Last updated: 3 July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how helpmepaint.art (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects your personal data when you use helpmepaint.art (the “Service”).
We are a UK-based sole trader. The data controller responsible for your personal data is:
Clarabel Ulrike van Heerden, trading as helpmepaint.art

1. What we collect
Account information, when you sign up:
- Display name
- Email address
- Password (stored securely by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text)
Reference images, when you use a tool that accepts an upload (Colour Analyser, Grid & Proportion Overlay, Value Isolator, Memory Canvas):
- The image file itself is uploaded to our storage and linked to your account
- These images are kept until you delete them or close your account
Usage activity, automatically:
- Which tools/trainers you use and when, to power features like progress tracking and history
Technical data, automatically, via our hosting provider:
- IP address, browser type, and standard server logs
We do not currently use advertising or third-party analytics, and we do not sell your data.
2. How we use your data
We use your data to:
- Create and manage your account
- Provide the tools and trainers, including saving your uploads so you can revisit past work
- Maintain security and prevent abuse
- Respond if you contact us
3. Legal basis for processing (UK/EU GDPR)
- Contract: processing your account details and uploads is necessary to provide the Service you signed up for.
- Legitimate interests: technical logs and activity data, to keep the Service running and secure.
4. Where your data is stored and who processes it
Your data is stored and processed by our infrastructure providers:
- Supabase (database, authentication, file storage)
- Vercel (hosting)
These providers may store data outside the UK/EEA. Where this happens, we rely on their standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for international transfers.
5. How long we keep your data
- Account data: kept for as long as your account is active.
- Uploaded images: kept indefinitely by default, until you delete a specific project/image or delete your account.
- On account deletion: kept for a grace period of 30 days, after which it is permanently deleted. This allows you to reactivate your account within 30 days without losing your data.
6. Your rights
If you’re in the UK, EU, or a jurisdiction with similar law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing relies on consent
- Complain to a supervisory authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO)
To exercise any of these, email helpmepaint.art@gmail.com.
7. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13. If you are between 13 and 17, you should have a parent or guardian’s permission to use it. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if we learn we have, we will delete it.
8. Cookies
We currently use only strictly necessary cookies (e.g. to keep you logged in). If we later add analytics, advertising, or other non-essential cookies, we will update this policy and add a cookie consent banner before doing so.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify affected users and, where legally required, the ICO, without undue delay.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, updating the “Last updated” date above and notifying you of significant changes where reasonable.
